My Top 10 'Top 10s'

27/1/19

It’s been a little while since I added anything to the Odds & Section designed more with friends and family in mind but this list of my Top 10 ‘Top 10s’ that may interest, intrigue, amuse and confuse some of you as to what helps to make me tick.

My Top 10 Box Sets

Over the last three-four years I have very much caught the ‘Box Set Bug’ to help me unwind after 9.00 p.m. Obviously there are dozens that I have not had time to even consider but any strong recommendations based on my tastes from below are welcomed.

My Top 10 Destinations Visited in the last 3-4 Years

It’s only in the last 3-4 years that I have started to travel properly. I’m not really one for beach holidays or laying by pools so much prefer city breaks and combining them with an event if possible.

1.      San Diego

2.      Vienna

4.      Las Vegas

5.      Barcelona

6.      Paris

7.      Amsterdam

My Top 10 European Destinations to Visit in the next 2-3 Years

On my bucket list is to visit every country in Europe so, although I have long list of cities worldwide to visit, my intention is to start knocking off countries on the continent first and get through all 50.

1.      St Petersburg

2.      Rome (been to Italy but not Rome)

3.      Lisbon

4.      Istanbul

5.      Copenhagen

6.      Ljubljana

7.      Rejkjavik

8.      Krakow

9.      Luxembourg

10.    Bratislava

My Top 10 Films

As I get older and creakier, the more films I watch and am a regular cinema attendee. At some point I will make an effort to watch every winner of The Best Picture at The Oscars (even including Avatar!). I’m on 37 at present, so a long way to go yet.

1.      The Godfather

2.      Lawrence Of Arabia

3.      Django Unchained

4.      All The President’s Men

My Top 10 Racehorses

I’m not particularly one to go gaga over horses these days, but these would be the top ten to capture my imagination most since I watched my first horse race in 1978 (Lucius winning the Grand National). You will notice a heavy leaning to horses from my most formative years.

My Top 10 Posters On My Bedroom Wall As A Teenager

Growing up I shared a bedroom with my younger brother. Whereas he had Public Enemy, Ice T and The Beastie Boys on his wall, I had far more sensible posters for a teenager like Vicario di Bray cantering down to the start ahead of the Haydock Park Champion Hurdle Trial cut out of Pacemaker magazine. He didn’t quite make it into my top ten though.

1.      Dancing Brave

2.      Ray Kennedy
